Wallace is located between two ski resort areas (Lookout Pass and Silver Mountain) which are just minutes away.

Dante’s Peak starring Pierce Bronson, Linda Hamilton and Jaime Renee Smith was filmed in 1997 in and around Wallace.  Many locals took part in the film as extras and enjoy talking about the experience (the volcano was painted in for the film-no worries).  Don’t feel like driving?  public transportation is available by riding the Silver Express. Transportation is free and covers the Silver Valley and even goes to Couer d’Alene.
